Why Calefaction?

2022 had a dramatic conclusion for the Dundas West community when in late November a giant sinkhole was discovered running under the streetcar tracks between Sheridan and Brock. While repairs were completed in time for New Year’s celebrations, the closure of the street had a devastating impact on the smaller businesses on the strip as winter set in. 

 

In response to this challenge, programmers at Lula Music and Arts, Little Portugal Toronto BIA and Transmit Presents put their heads together to plan a ‘post pit celebration’ with an eye to announcing that their beloved strip of Dundas West is once again open to vehicles, streetcars, bicycles and pedestrians and that Dundas West is ready to party!
